NY Dolls & Todd Rundgren to Reunite on New CD!
![]()
1970s glam rock legends the New York Dolls and producer Todd Rundgren will reunite for the first time in 36 years when Rundgren twiddles the knobs, or however they make records these days, for the DOLLS’ new album at Rundgren’s studio on the island of Kauai. Production is scheduled to start in January 2009.
This will be the first time the New York Dolls and Todd Rundgren have worked together since he produced their self-titled debut album, “New York Dolls”, which included such classic tracks “Personality Crisis”, “Trash”, “Jet Boy” and “Private World”.
Alas since the passing of original Dolls, Johnny Thunders (guitar) Arthur Kane (bass) and Jerry Nolan (drums) Rundgren will only be reunited with founding members David Johansen (vocals) and Sylvain Sylvain (guitar, vocals). The departed Dolls have since been replaced by Steve Conte, Sam Yaffa and Brian Delaney on guitar, bass and drums.
Nevertheless, “We’re really excited to be working with Todd again,” said David Johansen. “We’re hoping to recapture the same magic on the forthcoming album.”
The disc, as yet untitled, will be released on the re-launched Atco label through Warner Brothers. The New York Dolls are one of the first signings to the label. The band plans to follow the album’s release with a world tour in 2009.
